Overview
In fast-paced veterinary environments, training must be realistic, efficient, and accessible. Through collaboration with hospital leaders, veterinarians, and frontline trainers, a shared need emerged for structured instructional guidance that aligns with clinical workflow and strengthens consistency across teams.
This project establishes a modular, performance-driven trainer development ecosystem that integrates learning science, mobile accessibility, applied simulation, and AI-supported coaching tools into real clinical practice.

Why This Project Matters
Clinical trainers are often promoted for technical expertise without formal preparation in instructional practice. In high-acuity settings, inconsistent feedback and unclear developmental alignment can influence learner confidence, performance progression, and retention.
This learning experience positions trainer development as a measurable, intentional practice — strengthening instructional clarity while protecting psychological safety and patient care standards.
Learning Experience Design
The learning experience is built as a modular ecosystem rather than a single linear course. Trainers engage in short, focused segments accessible via desktop or mobile device, allowing development to occur alongside clinical responsibilities.

Concise instructional segments introduce core concepts, including observable language, alignment of developmental feedback, and bias recognition.

Interactive Rise 360 Module Experience
One core module was developed in Rise 360 to provide an interactive foundation for trainer development.
The module integrates an animated instructional segment designed to operationalize stages of competence and UDL in clinical teaching contexts. AI-assisted scripting supported initial development, followed by refinement for clinical authenticity. The animation was produced using Adobe Character Animator, with visual assets developed in Adobe Express.
Embedded knowledge checks require learners to apply concepts in real time, reinforcing cognitive engagement and practical transfer.

AI-Enhanced Coaching Tool

A custom Trainer Feedback Coach GPT extends learning beyond the module environment.
Designed specifically for veterinary nurse trainers, the tool guides structured observation before interpretation, supports bias-aware reflection, aligns coaching to developmental stage, and co-constructs behavior-based feedback.
Rather than replacing trainer judgment, it strengthens instructional precision and metacognitive awareness during simulated clinical encounters.

Game-Based Performance Assessment
The culminating experience is an interactive escape room simulation developed by modifying a Genially template into a consequence-based instructional assessment.
In this scenario, trainers defend their instructional decisions under managerial scrutiny. Participants identify the learner’s stage of competence, differentiate objective observation from colleague bias, and determine appropriate developmental support.
Branching outcomes simulate realistic consequences such as learner progression, disengagement, or burnout — reinforcing the impact of instructional decisions in high-pressure environments.

My Role
Instructional Designer and Clinical Subject Matter Expert
In this project, I led the instructional vision from concept to deployment.
I collaborated with hospital leaders, veterinarians, and frontline clinical trainers to identify performance gaps and define measurable development priorities. I designed a modular, mobile-optimized learning architecture grounded in learning science and responsive to high-acuity clinical environments.
I developed AI-enhanced coaching tools to extend feedback precision beyond the module experience. I transformed authentic clinical tensions into structured, scenario-based simulations aligned with the Conscious Competence Model and Universal Design for Learning principles.
From scripting and animation development to interactive design, branching assessment logic, and LMS deployment, I built and integrated the full ecosystem across platforms.
This project reflects the integration of my emergency and critical care background with graduate-level instructional design expertise — bridging clinical practice with structured, performance-driven learning systems.
